The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) hosted a launch event at the Institute for The Future of Work (IFoW) in partnership with Microsoft. The launch took place in Hatfield, Pretoria on Wednesday, 02 October which saw the presence of the university’s Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof Tinyiko Malukeke.
The event brought together academic leaders, students, and various stakeholders to celebrate a new chapter in TUT’s commitment to innovation, education, and community engagement. “As the institution we aim to empower students from diverse backgrounds, ensuring equitable access to digital education,” said Prof Maluleke.
Prof. Maluleke underlined the university’s strategic vision for growth and its role in contributing to societal transformation. He highlighted the critical need for institutions like TUT to adapt to the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and invest in cutting-edge technology and infrastructure. This partnership with Microsoft aligns with TUT’s mission to foster a learning environment that equips students with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.



The Microsoft South Africa’s Corporate and Government Affairs Lead Hellen Mogashoa emphasized the importance of teaching individuals with essential digital skills to thrive in today’s economy. She further stated that the Microsoft Advanced Digital Skills programme is committed to fostering inclusivity and innovation. The goal is to prepare participants for the future where technology plays a central role in every industry.
