
The Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony for the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) took place at the scenic Kievits Kroon Wine Estate. This annual event celebrated the outstanding achievements of top students across the university’s faculties, marking a pinnacle of academic and professional excellence for the institution. Chancellor, Dr Gloria Serobe and Vice-Chancellor & Principal, Professor Tinyiko Maluleke both delivered stirring speeches emphasizing the transformative power of education and applauding the awardees for their academic rigor and commitment to their communities. The evening brought together TUT’s distinguished leadership, faculty members, families, and friends to celebrate the students’ dedication, perseverance, and impact within their respective fields.

Chancellor Serobe opened the event with a powerful address, highlighting the university’s commitment to fostering talent and innovation. She lauded the awardees as exemplary ambassadors of TUT. In her congratulatory speech, Serobe expressed her immense pride in the awardees, stating, “You stand here today not only as the best among your peers but as beacons of hope and inspiration for those who will follow in your footsteps”.
Professor Maluleke in his remarks, reflected on the pivotal role of education in shaping South Africa’s future, encouraging the awardees to continue their pursuit of excellence and leadership in their fields. As part of the ceremony, both Chancellor Serobe and Professor Maluleke personally presented the prestigious Chancellor’s Medals to the recipients, each representing TUT’s faculties.
The 2024 awardees were: Alden clapper from faculty of Arts & Design, Zante Bester from faculty of Science, Reagile Frances Makwela from the faculty of Humanities, Simphiwe Patrick Xolo from the faculty of Economics & Finance, Edgar Tebogo Radingwana from Faculty of Management Sciences, Surprise Kgaugelo Mashao from faculty of Information & Communication Technology and Shivendra Nath Tripathi from faculty of Engineering & Built Environment.
Following the award presentations, Reagile Frances Makwela representing the recipients, delivered a heartfelt response on behalf of her fellow awardees. In her speech, she expressed gratitude to the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, faculty, and families for their unwavering support. “We stand before you today not just as individuals but as a collective that embodies the values and vision of TUT. This recognition is a testament to our hard work and the belief that those who invest in us will reap the rewards of our achievements,” she stated:
