Post-Cabinet briefing

Minister in The Presidency, Ms Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, held a media briefing at Ronnie Mamoepa Media Centre, Tshedimosetso House, on Thursday, 18th September 2025. This was a brief review of the outcomes of the cabinet meeting that took place on Wednesday, 17 September 2025, from economic growth, presidential youth employment initiative, the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80), justice and crime prevention (Madlanga commission of inquiry), and cabinet decisions (draft National Entrepreneurship strategy)

She mentioned ‘the outcomes made by the cabinet on industries such as manufacturing, mining, and trade returning to a growth territory. According to Fitch, the progress made under the government’s Vulindlela Phase 2 reforms, focused on fixing network infrastructure such as electricity, logistics, and water, has alleviated load shedding and halted a decline in freight volume transported, contributing to a modest increase in GDP growth. These affirmations increase investor confidence in the country’s fiscal management and institutional strength.

The Cabinet welcomed the latest quarterly progress report from April 2025 to June 2025 on the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative, which highlighted significant strides in creating pathways to earning for young South Africans. More than 5.64 million young people registered on the national pathway management network, surpassing the initial target of 5 million. The cabinet welcomes the commencement of the Madlanga commission of enquiry hearings and calls on any individuals who may contribute information that could assist the progress of the commission. South Africa will participate in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), which convenes under the theme Better Together 80 years and more for peace, development, and human rights.

She also congratulated the Boks for thrashing the All blacks, Tyla, on her latest achievement.
