CELEBRATION OF THE DR TLOU CHOLO 3RD ANNUAL LEGACY LECTURE

Dr Tlou Theophilus Cholo

The 3rd annual legacy lecture of Dr. Tlou Theophilus cholo was celebrated at the freedom park, Pretoria on the 11th of October 2024, in partnership with the Tshwane University of technology. The purpose of the lecture was to honor the life of a veteran who was sentenced to 16 years in Robben Island with a charge of terrorism for the sacrifice of the liberation of the South African country.

Mr. Ronald Lamola, Minister of international Relations and Cooperation

Minister of international Relations and Cooperation, Mr. Ronald Lamola delivered a keynote address by touching on the history of Dr. Cholo. The minister stated that a theme of 30 years in democracy is interrogated and that Dr. Cholo was elected as the first Soshanguve branch chairperson of the ANC in 1990. He further stated that South Africa will resume the G20 presidency in December 2024 and that President Cyril Ramaphosa has already announced the theme sustainable development as this will be the biggest project after the world cup and calls upon all South Africans to run behind this.

Dr. Cholo highlighted one of the issues faced in the country that he is concerned about which is global warming. “I’m worried about the global change of climate, I am worried because we have lost thousands of people swapped away by floods in our country, now the question is what precautions are being taken as this damage is still coming, said Dr. cholo. The assistant Dean of the faculty of Humanities, Prof. Bongazana Dondolo closed the event with the special words, “your life Dr Cholo is a mirror for people to look into and remind ourselves that the dreams of people must still be fulfilled.”
