The Vice Chancellor and Principal of Tshwane University of Technology Professor Tinyiko Maluleke hosted a Welcome Breakfast at Denisburg Restaurant on Wednesday, September 18 to honour the Olympians Zeney Geldenhuys and Steven Mokoka.
The Vice Chancellor and principal was delighted to honour the athletes and spoke highly of the Olympians and their accomplishments.
The purpose of the breakfast was to thank the Olympians for their amazing work, and most importantly to be the first to show them appreciation as the institution before the world.
There is an initiative the institution has in place to support students-athletes who are Olympians or aspiring to be, it is through physical activities for health. The institution is encouraging the students and the staff members to take part in sports.

The Director of Sports and Recreation Dr Hojiro Mashego states how grateful she is that the vice chancellor honoured the two Olympians.

A sportswoman who competes in hurdling and sprinting Zeney Geldenhuys who’s the second year in sports management at Tshwane University of Technology stated that she started sports when she was doing grade six. She further stated that she was participating in any sports there was, but she was always searching her goals for athletics.

A sportsman long distance runner Steven Mokoka who studies B-Tech in sports management at Tshwane University of Technology mentioned that he is hoping that one day when he retires, he’ll go back from where he is coming from to plough back his knowledge, experiences, and everything he acquired to share it with the community and the youth that still needs to pursue their careers.
The Olympians were cheerful to be honoured and appreciated the vice chancellor for honouring them, purchasing gifts for them, and overall recognizing them.
