Tshwane FM and TUT FM officially opened their new high tech digital studios at Tshwane University of Technology, which started at the Soshanguve South Campus and headed to the Pretoria West Campus on the 8th of August 2025. The upgrade was funded by the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA), in partnership with the Gauteng Provincial Government and the City of Tshwane.

Kenny Morolong, Deputy Minister of the Presidency states the community radio as “the heartbeat of the nation”, said that it also gives a platform to the locals often “unheard voices”. He added that the studio will get to help create positive change, especially for TUT’s youth, and addressing issues like GBV and empowering women.

“Especially in this month where celebrate the heroic sacrifices of the generation, women who marched through the streets of Pretoria to the union building to reject the imposition of past law”, said Kenny Morolong.

Philly Moilwa, MDDA board member, said the agency’s goal is to make sure they provide all media resources to previously disadvantaged communities. He described the new studio as modern, multi-purpose space, that also outperforms some commercial stations.
